Meinhold Farm Story
In 1873 Herman P and Sophia Meinhold homestead their farm in rural Benson, Illinois where they had 3 sons and 7 daughters. One of the sons, John Christian Meinhold, continued this farm operation, and he and his wife had 2 sons, Milford and Emmett, and a daughter, Roberta. Emmett and Milford Meinhold continued to operate the farm until the late 80’s. Emmett and Virgina had 2 sons, Dennis and Emmett Meinhold, and a daughter, Sandra. They turned the farming operation over to Dennis and Emmett in the early 90’s. Dennis had a son, John, and 2 daughters, Shari and Tammi. Emmett had 3 sons, Tim, Todd and Marcus, and a daughter, Mindi.
Today in 2026 the farm is in its 5th generation and is being farmed by one of Emmett Meinhold’s sons and family. In 2018 they began to convert the farm over to Organic and is currently a certified organic farm. With several children and grandchildren, the 6th generation and beyond looks promising.
